MATERIAL FLOW TECHNICIAN - LEVEL 4
Material Flow Technicians serve as subject matter experts in material flow fabrication. They lead complex fabrication projects, develop and own engineering documentation packages, and drive innovative solutions to difficult material flow challenges. This role requires advanced proficiency in welding, CNC, and adaptive fabrication techniques while partnering directly with Material Flow Engineers on new designs. Level 4 Technicians work independently, develop fabrication standards, and train others to proficiency in their assigned areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead complex fabrication projects from concept through implementation with minimal engineering support
Serve as a subject matter expert in welding, CNC machining, and adaptive fabrication for material flow equipment and infrastructure
Create, revise, and own complete engineering documentation packages, including drawings and fabrication instructions
Develop and implement innovative fabrication solutions to solve challenging material flow problems
Partner directly with Material Flow Engineers on new designs and process improvements
Develop fabrication standards and best practices for the team
Create and deliver fabrication training modules; train new and existing technicians to level 3 proficiency
Own high-impact fabrication projects end-to-end, including project leadership fundamentals and execution
Provide technical guidance and surge support across receiving, put-away, picking, shipping, and production coordination as needed
Maintain high inventory accuracy and ensure proper disposition of obsolete material during new cell and process implementations
Maintain all required certifications on equipment and processes
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalency certificate
3+ years of experience in material flow, fabrication, and industrial process improvement
3+years of professional MIG welding experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
TIG welding experience
AWS Certified Welding certification (GMAW/MIG process)
Experience operating heavy material handling equipment, including forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and telehandlers
Advanced welding & CNC certification
Strong experience creating and revising engineering documentation and drawings
Proven ability to lead complex fabrication projects independently
Experience developing fabrication standards and training others
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Experience reading and interpreting CAD drawings
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to work overtime, weekends, and across shifts as needed
Ability to stand for extended periods – 8+ hours
Must be available for overtime, all shifts, and weekend work as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility is required
Stand: Up to 6 hours per day
Sit: Up to 3 hours per day
Push/Pull: Up to 75lbs. (unassisted) 2 hours or longer per day
Overhead reach: Up to 1 hour per day
Walk: Up to 6 hours per day
Lift/Carry: Up to 50lbs. (unassisted) 2 hours or longer per day
Climb (ladder/stairs): up to 1 hour per day
Kneel/Crouch: up to 1 hour per day
Upper body twist: Up to 6 hours per day
Ability to work in temperatures over 80 degrees: 30 minutes or less per day
Candidate must be capable of safely working at heights (up to 500ft), in confined spaces, using an air purifying respirator, and performing the physical requirements of the job listed in the job description
