Job Title : Systems Integrator (MuleSoft)

Overview
We are seeking a contract Software Engineer / Systems Integrator to build a secure web portal that allows healthcare intake staff to verify Veteran eligibility and retrieve clinical records from federal VA systems in real time — reducing a multi-week manual process to under 30 minutes.
Roles & Responsibilities

• Build a secure, responsive intake portal for clinical staff with real-time Veteran search and eligibility retrieval

• Integrate with VA Lighthouse APIs (Veteran Verification API and Health API, production tier)

• Implement MuleSoft as the API orchestration layer between the portal and VA federal endpoints

• Integrate State SSO (Ping Identity) for authentication; broker State credentials to VA federal security tokens

• Transform FHIR/JSON health data into human-readable formats for clinical staff

• Implement HIPAA/CJIS-compliant audit logging and zero-trust security (TLS 1.2+, no persistent PHI/PII)

• Deploy on existing Client-managed AWS or GCP environment

• Participate in UAT sessions with clinical SMEs and deliver technical documentation

Required Technical Skills

• MuleSoft Anypoint Platform — API integration, gateway, policy enforcement

• VA Lighthouse API or equivalent federal health APIs

• HL7 FHIR R4 — data parsing, transformation, and normalization

• Ping Identity / PingFederate — SSO, OAuth 2.0, SAML, identity federation

• RESTful API development (Node.js, Java, or Python)

• React.js or Angular — responsive, accessible front-end UI

• AWS or GCP — cloud deployment and IAM configuration

• HIPAA & CJIS compliance, audit logging, zero-trust architecture

Preferred

• Familiarity with PointClickCare or similar long-term care EHR systems

• State or local government IT project experience

• FedRAMP or AWS GovCloud experience
