This is a role for a tax professional who wants to apply their expertise in a new way. As Tax Domain Expert for Corporate Taxes at Lucanet, you are our subject-matter expert for German corporate taxes within a small, growing product team working at the intersection of tax law, product, and engineering to make sure our tax software reflects real-world tax practice.
The calculations, data flows, and validation logic you define don't stay in one company's tax department: they power software used by finance and tax teams at thousands of companies.
You report to the Lead Product Manager and translate regulatory requirements into precise specifications our engineers can build. Because the product area is still being built up, you'll have real room to shape how it takes form – while staying close to the tax content that is your strength. You shape the corporate-tax direction of this area together with our other product experts. Not on your own, but as part of a team. Experienced tax colleagues, including a dedicated tax advisor and our in-house tax function, are there as sparring partners along the way.
Act as the dedicated tax subject-matter expert for German corporate taxes for corporate and partnership structures within the product team.
Advise the product team on corporate tax matters, including related special tax questions.
Analyze legislative changes and translate them into actionable software requirements and specifications.
Define the foundation for tax calculations, data flows across corporate structures, and validation logic for engineering to implement.
Contribute to new product developments alongside the product team, shaping how upcoming features and capabilities take form.
Support the engineering team with tax questions throughout the development process.
Advise customers and partners on complex and special corporate tax scenarios within the software.
Join customer workshops to gather requirements and validate solutions (travel is rare).
Contribute to product planning and reviews as a sparring partner.
Deep expertise in German corporate taxes for corporate and partnership structures.
5+ years of hands-on experience in German corporate tax (in-house or in tax advisory). A tax advisor qualification is a plus, not a must.
Solid knowledge of HGB accounting and German tax accounting law.
Familiarity with group tax law, tax group structures and the German Reorganization Tax Act (Umwandlungssteuergesetz).
Experience with tax software (e.g. Lucanet Tax Compliance & Reporting / GlobalTaxCenter, DATEV, SAP, or similar). Knowledge of deferred taxes and IFRS (IAS 12, IAS 34) is a plus.
Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, tackling complex tax questions in a legally accurate yet pragmatic way.
Ability to explain complex tax rules clearly to non-tax audiences, including engineers and product managers.
Confidence in managing internal stakeholders and external advisors to move topics forward.
A proactive approach to tracking regulatory developments and turning them into practical updates.
Hands-on mentality, strong self-organization, and a collaborative, team-oriented way of working.
Appetite for process improvement and workflow automation – finding smarter ways to handle recurring work, not just faster ones.
An AI-native mindset: comfortable using AI tools daily for drafting, research, and process support, and genuinely curious about how AI can reshape tax work itself, not just support it — experience in matters relating to international corporate taxation and a SaaS/software environment are a plus.
German C1+ and good English for documentation and collaboration.
