Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.
Our sights are set high and our problems are hard, and we believe that diversity in the workplace is what makes us smarter, drives better insights, and will ultimately lift us all to success. We are dedicated to cultivating an equitable and inclusive environment that embraces our differences, and supports and celebrates all of our team members.
What you’ll do:
Own the turboshaft in a complex hybrid powertrain / turbogenerator system
Manage the turboshaft team, including varied experts on fuel, turbine design, exhaust and thermal etc.
Ensure the turboshaft can be integrated, tested and certified within our aircraft
Understand and optimize the turboshaft design for the integrated unit
Manage technical, certification, program and other risks to ensure we are successful
Directing turboshaft testing, verification and certification programs
Defining the wider turboshaft sub-systems and integration challenges to mechanical engineers, systems engineers and others
Define the strategy for turboshaft and turbogenerator development as well as the wider hybrid-powertrain strategy
What you’ll need:
BS / MS / PhD in a related scientific or engineering field.
10+ years experience in turboshaft design and engine control
Strong fundamentals and demonstrated understanding of turboshaft operation
Experience with industry-standard tools, methods and processes
Ability to do things faster but just as rigorously
Strong experience with applying Part-33 / CS-E in novel systems programs
A systematic approach to problem-solving and the ability to communicate complex, technical rationale to multidisciplinary stakeholders.
